Final Blog

Since I have one more blog left to do I was thinking about what I could write about this week. I came up with an idea of what I could have blogged about so that I would not have been drawing blanks each week. I love to cook. I try at least one new recipe a week. I thought I could have posted the recipe I tried and write about if it was good or bad and any changes I would make!

Blogging

I thought for my last blog (at least I think it is our last week of blogging) I would write about what I think about our blogging assignment. I found it very difficult to come up with something to write each week. I guess I don't find myself very interesting! I think it would be easier if I followed something regularly (for ex. a sports team) and blogged about their wins/loses, progress, etc. each week.
I think a blog would be an intersting option for students in assignments. If my students have access to computers in my science classroom I could see myself using blogs in place of a scientific journal.
Overall it was challenging to blog each week, but I am happy I know something about blogging now!

E-portfolio progress

So far the e-portfolio is a lot easier to create than I thought it would be. (However I am making mine simple, if I was trying fancier things it would be more difficult.) I found it was very useful to have what I wanted to include planned out ahead of time. To make things go along faster when I was at the school working on it, I spent the night before writing out the text I would be including and finding any documents and pics I would be using. I found this helped a lot when I was working on dreamweaver. It kept the frustration levels down because I knew exactly where I was going and what I wanted to get done that day.

Boring

I feel as though I have nothing exciting to blog about now that I am home from my trip and back to the books. I have spent the last week finishing up a unit plan that I left until the last minute. I can not believe it is March and my final assignments are all due soon! Well I better get back to more homework...

Bad Luck

Although my trip was amazing I had my fair share of bad luck.
The trip down was fine. The next day we were supposed to have a driver pick us up at 9 am to take us to my auntie and uncle's house. Two hours later I emailed my auntie to tell her he hadn't shown up yet. She called him and he thought it was the 18th not the 16th he was supposed to come get us. He came and we arrived about six hours late.
A couple of days later we were at the beach. My auntie and uncle were supposed to pick us up an hour or two after they dropped us off. When they came to get us they never saw we were sitting under a tree. They searched every beach in the area and never found us. Five hours later we walked to the highway and luckily they happened to be driving by. Normally it wouldn't be bad to be stuck on a beach that long, but it was plus 40 and we had no water.
The next day we were going hiking in Corcovado National Park. The tour bus was supposed to meet us at 6 am. Apparently they got the wrong restaurant where they were supposed to get us. We waited 2 hours on the highway. The tour company had another bus going out at that time and they picked us up.
We never had any more bad luck until our flights home. We made it to Calgary where we realized our luggage was missing. Then we went to get on the plane and people were sitting in our seats. Air Canada told us Continental didn't check us in at Houston so they sold our seats to people waiting on standby. So we, not them had to get off the plane and wait. Luckily we made it on the next plane that night. We got home at 3 am. We were supposed to get home at 8:30. I had none of my stuff to get ready for school that morning but went anyway. Our luggage came the next day!

Email Home

Hey all I will work my way backwards on what we have done. Temperatures have been about 25-30 degrees everyday. Feels like 40 sometimes!
Today: We went white water rafting. It was a class II-IV river, which is about moderate level. It was a lot of fun and great views. We saw a lot of squirrel monkeys in one spot. We were with some crazy couple and toppled right off the start. Devin never fell out but I had to get in the Universal Raft Position and flow down the river. I stopped on a rock and they picked me up. The man in the crazy couple fell out again after lunch. His wife continuously freaked out the whole trip. I think she was bipolar. One minute she loved it the next she was swearing and wanting to quit. Another down side to the trip would be my burn. My legs are very very red and sore. I hope they will be better in the morning.
Wednesday: We went to Corcovado National Park. It involved a boat ride through the mangroves, the ocean, and then a hike through the park and on the beach. We saw black rays in the ocean. We saw birds, spiders, ants, racoons type animals fighting, and caimans (small type crocodiles). The best birds were the flock of scarlet macaws on the beach. Those are the big red, blue, and yellow looking parrots. We had another crazy family with us on that tour.
Tuesday: We got dropped off at the beach while Tony and Linda went into town. They were supposed to come get us two hours later. When Linda came she could not see us on the beach. They went on a hunt along the coast for us. We were sitting in the trees the whole time where we were supposed to get picked up. Five hours after we were dropped off Tony found us. We were happy to get home!
Monday: Tim, ziplining is going in a harness hooked to a cable from platform to platform through the trees. It was fun but I could not figure out how to work the handbrake. On the second platform I tried to use it and did not succeed so the guide had to jump off the platform on the cable. I hit him then we both hit the tree. Once I figured it out things were fine. Once again, we had an overly optimistic family along.
